Money

China's currency is the called Renminbi(RMB). The standard unit of Chinese currency is called "Yuan" (Chinese Dollar). The subsidiary unites are "Jiao" and "Fen". One "Yuan" equals ten "Jiao" and one "Jiao" equals ten "Fen"

At present, the Yuan is worth about US $0.12, with slight daily fluctuations. The Bank of China has exchange desks for foreign currency and travelers checks with convenient hours at all hotels, airports, Friendship Stores, and other shopping areas.

Upon exiting China, visitors may be required to show official exchange receipts in order to change RMB back into dollars. Reconversion can only be done upon departure.

Credit cards
Visa, Master Card, American Express, Diner's Club, Federal Card, Million Card, and JCB credit cards are accepted at most hotels and state-run shops in the major cities. Travelers should be prepared to pay cash(Yuan) when shopping in smaller shops, at restaurants, and at hotels in remote towns.

Traveler's Checks
The Bank of China can cash traveler's checks sold by international commercial banks and traveler's check companies in the United States, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Britain, France, Switzerland, and Germany.
